  • Stories of Us is a visual storytelling campaign that seeks to celebrate the lives and contributions of migrants living in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. Through compelling photography and written narratives, the project spotlights the individuals who have contributed to the city’s growth, progress, and beauty. The campaign aims to challenge stereotypes and counter false narratives that portray migrants as a burden on society. By presenting authentic, inspiring stories, STORIES OF US is highlighting the invaluable roles migrants play in enriching the cultural, social, and economic fabric of Newcastle.

WATCH

A mini documentary about the journeys of 12 migrants who have come from all over the world and now call Newcastle their home. Discover their joys, their pains and their hopes about migration in the United Kingdom.

The project was launched with a photo exhibition held at Newcastle Civic Centre on 18th December, 2025 (International Migrant’s Day).

In addition to the photo exhibition, the evening featured a poetry performance by the remarkable, multi-award-winning Tahmina Ali, as well as live music from the exceptionally talented Tuned-ey. Guests were also be invited to engage in a thought-provoking conversation about migration with Dr. John Ameobi and Mrs Caroline Afolabi-Deleu.
